Clarkson News Announcing New Building The learning environment plays a key role in a student's education. As the nursing program outgrew its current space, the need for a newly updated, modern space was seen. Through the collaborative efforts of the Clarkson Hospital board, nursing school faculty and staff, and state and local boards, a new building was realized in September 1960. The new space contained classrooms, recreation space, library and student living space. The seven-story building could accommodate 152 students.
Men in Nursing Advertisement Approximately 2.7% of registered nurses in 1970 were male. This number has risen to approximately 11% today. Male representation in nursing continues to be a challenge. Clarkson
College saw the need to reach more male applicants in 1970. The 'Today's Man' flyer used current students to promote the field of nursing to male applicants.
From Diploma Program to BSN The journey from a diploma-based program to a bachelor's degree program began in 1976. This report documents the initial stages of assessment in the transition.
World Herald Article Program Pairs Adults and Pupils An eight-week program between Clarkson College and the local elementary school provides a learning opportunity for both the nursing and elementary student. The program aims to help nursing students not only learn child development, but also understand child stresses, both in and outside the classroom.
